Gameholecon 2018 Star Wars Legion Tournament

Here are the promised rules for the 2018 Gameholecon Star Wars Legion event happening on Sunday. Please ensure you are familiar with the Fantasy Flight Rules Pack for tournaments. This is available in the Tournaments section of the Legion page on the Fantasy Flight Games website.

Tournament Tier: Relaxed
Stucture: Basic (No Cut)
Number of Players: 16
Points: 800
Rounds: 6 or less players, 2 rounds. More then 6 players there will be 3 rounds
Round Length: Rounds will be 120 minutes long with a 10 minute pre-game set up time

Lists: Players must have a copy of their list available for the Organizer, preferably printed using Tabletop Admiral. If a player does not have a printed copy of their list, then they will be provided a form at registration and required to provide a detailed list of units and purchased upgrade cards. A player found playing with options not on the list submitted to the Organizer will be disqualified from the event.

Schedule (rough):
8-8:30 AM: Registration
8:30 AM to 10:40 AM: Round 1
10:50 AM to 1 PM: Round 2
1 PM to 1:30 PM: Lunch
1:30 PM to 3:40 PM: Round 3
3:40 to 4 pm: Final Results and Awards

Ringer: As this is a relaxed format event, if there is an odd number of players the Organizer, who is also filling in as a leader will play as the ringer. The ringer will not be eligible for any prize support or be considered for final event scoring, however your result against the ringer will be your result. Thus a loss against the ringer is considered a loss in the event. The idea of the ringer is to ensure everyone gets to play as many games of Legion and have fun through the day.

Overall results will be posted to the WiscoDice website.

Prize Support: TBD

Getting Started: Joker

In my third article for Getting Started crew guides for the Batman Miniatures Game, I am taking a look at the Joker crew. Remember, in the Getting Started series I am going to focus on Batman Miniatures Game and specifically look at a crew at a time and give my thoughts as to what the starting point should be. The focus in these is getting started with the game, and not necessarily the greatest tournament winning and soul crushing lists. Each article is going to focus on ease and cost of ownership and provide a good first list beyond your starter box purchase.

With the Joker crew, it’s about tricks and getting the best out of low level thugs. Joker crews are considered a horde crew for the game where you are going to want to get the best out of the worst, quite literally! While this could mean that you are looking at a greater cost to get into the game from the start, Joker crews can bring in some great thematic free agents and sidekicks to help give the crew some needed bite as well. This can help you out with beginning model count as you get your crew to the table. As there is only one starter available for this crew in resin, both of my recommendations will use that crew box as a basis.

Getting Started: Bane

In my second article for Getting Started crew guides for the Batman Miniatures Game, I am taking a look at Bane.

With the Bane crew, it’s about powerful models that will dominate your opponent with strength. Bane crews tend to be elite models that play a very strong role on the table. Each one individually can be expected to serve their role and do it very well. With this article, I will focus on what’s available for resin purchases which makes your cost of entry in getting started with this crew easy and makes future growth expansions not too bad either.

Getting Started: Brave and the Bold

Getting started with Batman Miniatures Game by Knight Models can be quite daunting. There are so many crews out there that just picking a crew can be a challenge. The nice thing, is for the most part, what models to pick up can be as simple as which ones look good together. However, in the Getting Started series I am going to focus on Batman Miniatures Game and specifically look at a crew at a time and give my thoughts as to what the starting point should be. The focus in these is getting started with the game, and not necessarily the greatest tournament winning and soul crushing lists. Each article is going to focus on ease and cost of ownership and provide a good first list beyond your starter box purchase.

Getting Started with Batman Miniatures Game

Batman Miniatures Game by Knight Models is a great skirmish game set in Gotham City and follows the major story arc of the Batman universe stories. I have been recently diving head over heals into this game with painting and building and I wanted to share a few of my thoughts about things to do when first getting started.

Episode 72: Bolt Action 2nd Edition

Episode 72

After pretty much forever it seems, Conesy finally managed to get this episode edited. We apologize for the gap and delay. Life and changes in what’s been going in our lives has put getting content on the back shelf for a little bit. If you want to ensure you are update to date on what the WiscoDice guys are doing, make sure you join our closed group on Facebook where we seem to put the most updates.

On this episode, our intrepid hosts break down the very nitty gritty on the new edition of Bolt Action. What are the changes to the rules and some thoughts on where it’s changing their lists. Let me tell you, Brian and Conesy have never spent so much time doing prep work and going over rules for a game like was done for this show and that goes a long ways into showing how excited for this game and this release they are.

Topics on this show include:

  • Bolt Action

If you are interested in Bolt Action, the rules, the game, or just more information make sure you check out the website where all of the info is available at Warlord Games

Lightening Strikes: Conesy’s Age Of Sigmar Stormcast Eternals

More hobby work is up. Local store Pegasus Games ran a recent 1500 point Age of Sigmar tourney and this, with help from Combat Phase Kenny Lull who keeps talking to me about AoS, motivated me to build and increase my fledgling Age of Sigmar force. The tournament was a blast and I managed to win 2 games and lose my third to Kenny actually….
