Getting Started with Batman Miniatures Game

Batman Miniatures Game by Knight Models is a great skirmish game set in Gotham City and follows the major story arc of the Batman universe stories. I have been recently diving head over heals into this game with painting and building and I wanted to share a few of my thoughts about things to do when first getting started.

Episode 72: Bolt Action 2nd Edition

Episode 72

After pretty much forever it seems, Conesy finally managed to get this episode edited. We apologize for the gap and delay. Life and changes in what’s been going in our lives has put getting content on the back shelf for a little bit. If you want to ensure you are update to date on what the WiscoDice guys are doing, make sure you join our closed group on Facebook where we seem to put the most updates.

On this episode, our intrepid hosts break down the very nitty gritty on the new edition of Bolt Action. What are the changes to the rules and some thoughts on where it’s changing their lists. Let me tell you, Brian and Conesy have never spent so much time doing prep work and going over rules for a game like was done for this show and that goes a long ways into showing how excited for this game and this release they are.

Topics on this show include:

  • Bolt Action

If you are interested in Bolt Action, the rules, the game, or just more information make sure you check out the website where all of the info is available at Warlord Games

With that, let’s roll those dice! Wisco’s for the win!!!!

Lightening Strikes: Conesy’s Age Of Sigmar Stormcast Eternals

More hobby work is up. Local store Pegasus Games ran a recent 1500 point Age of Sigmar tourney and this, with help from Combat Phase Kenny Lull who keeps talking to me about AoS, motivated me to build and increase my fledgling Age of Sigmar force. The tournament was a blast and I managed to win 2 games and lose my third to Kenny actually….

Infinity USAdriana

Hey all. It’s been a little while, but between taking a break from the show (just a break!!!), things have been a little busy. Adepticon has come and went and there have been some serious panic hobby before and now I am riding the high of hobby post convention!!! I have always really liked the game mechanics for Infinity, but I haven’t been really keen on the PanOceania that I started the game with. I have always had my eyes on the look of the models for USAriadna since I started. I had originally went down the path of doing Combined Army, which I like the look and want to get back to that project at some point, my painting mojo just hasn’t been there to work on those figures. Our local Warcor announced and Infinity escalation league with a number of new players and I threw my hat in.

It started out with the USAriadna Army starter box I had here along with the Unknown Ranger and Van Zant Gen Con edition models I had laying around here and with less then a week before the league started, I raced to get those models done. I also started ordering some additional models to start filling out some special model selections and other options to help flesh out the army.

Raging Heroes Toughest Girls in the Galaxy II Kickstarter Freebies

Raging Heroes

Today arrived my freebies for backing the Raging Heroes Kickstarter for their Toughest Girls in the Galaxy II campaign. I have been a fan of Raging Heroes for quite some time and have a number of their models for my current dark elf and daemon armies for Warhammer Fantasy/9th Age. All of those models are metals and have been really, really well done. When I had backed this Kickstarter, Warhammer Fantasy (8th Edition) was still a thing and when I saw this, I thought I would use it as a way to build an all female model Dark Elf army. It’s taken a while, as with any miniature Kickstarter to get the models to the point that they can start to ship and this is just the very first bit of models that I will be receiving. The bonus is that I still plan on doing these guys up as a new army, but whether that actually ever hits the table or just becomes a hobby project…I am not sure yet.

Avengers Assemble. Marvel Universe Miniatures Game

Marvel Avengers

Recently I picked up the Marvel Universe Miniatures Game by Knight Models. I have always been a fan of Marvel comics, since I was very young. Still, with the number of games I own that aren’t probably getting enough attention seems to continue to grow so I held off when I first saw this game released. After much staring at this and Knight Models Batman skirmish game for quite some time, I decided to jump all in and picked this game up.

Dropfleet Commander – Adding to the Starter

So, you have the two player starter for Dropfleet Commander and now you want to add some models to your list and grow your game? Well, I don’t know the right answers to this question, but here’s where I am taking both the UCM and Scourge starters from the recommended ships to then next points level. The goal is to add a single carrier and frigate sprue to the list, while trying to fill some of the holes we were left wanting with the starter game.

Dropfleet Commander First Impressions

I didn’t really mention it much and we don’t talk much about Kickstarters and what we are backing on the show, but I backed the Dropfleet Commander one and it has recently made it to my door! If you don’t know what Dropfleet Commander is, it’s a space ship miniatures game intended to similulate fleet actions attempting to land assets on planetary locations for the purpose of defending or retaking planets. The game is by Hawk Wargames and their other big game, Dropzone Commander, is a 10 mm combined infantry/land/air assets attempting to retake stretegic locations within a small area of a planet.

Blood Bowl First Review

All right fans, it’s time to take a look at the new version of Blood Bowl. I just picked up my copy this morning from Pegasus Games here in Madison for their Black Friday, shop in your pajama’s sale. There were plenty of Games-Workshop games players this morning all looking for the black friday shopping discount. Having been mostly away from buying of models from GW in a while, I have to say looking at the pricing that I can see why they were in the store.

Rant aside, I love Blood Bowl since I was introduced to it probably 12 or so years ago. I am an Orc player primarily and my standard team of old is 4 Black Orcs, 4 Blitzers, and 3 line Orcs (well, my base team anyways) with a couple of re-rolls and whatever is left is turned into fan factor. Well, that’s my starting team anyways and then we go from there. I also have a dark elf team, but I built that when dark elves still had throwers and no assassins and I remember a few years ago that changed which disappointed me a little since I had converted up a thrower. Oh well! That’s the way these things work sometimes.
