Gen Con 2016 in Photos

Gen Con 2016 was great and I had a blast. This year was the busiest year that I have ever had with three True Dungeon runs, seminars, hobby events, and other craziness. My biggest three highlights for the show were:

  1. Going in with the rush at the opening of the vendor hall and buying the new Malifaux Crew Box, The Queen Returns for Neverborn.
  2. Doing the Hirst Arts resin casting class. Short and fast, but I learned so much about resin casting. Both safety tips and product tips.
  3. Being a part of the Infinity Seminar for what’s new that was done on Saturday and then walking away with a model for free. I had no idea how cool the seminar would be and actually walked out of their pumped about my PanOceania troops (which then got me to buy more models…..hmmmm…I see what they did there!!! Hahaha)

So we’ll be talking about this on the show I am sure, but in the mean time here are a ton of really quality pictures to tie you over!!!

Gen Con 2015 Wargamer’s Guide

So, just as many of us here in the United States are doing that are gamers, we are gearing up and excited for another year of Gen Con. That’s right, I am going to this grand daddy of super sized mega-cons again this year to check out the vendors, pick up some new games and to hang out with friends from around the country. It will be another great year.

So, one of the things that WiscoDice is doing this year is going to be a walk up challenge. If you bump into Conesy, yeah me, during the convention and let me know how this blog post helped you, I will give you a pair of the “winter edition” WiscoDice while supplies last.

So, ok, enough about what we’re doing. What’s at Gen Con this year that’s super cool or you should check out. Let’s start with the vendor hall. A few years ago, when I first started going back to Gen Con I noticed the increased number of different vendors for miniature games in the hall. Here are some ones that I think you shouldn’t miss.

The long pause

Folks may have noticed a big pause around the holidays and we came back and did some shows. We have hit another big pause here. I want to assure our fans it isn’t because Brian and I have rage quit Warhammer. Rather, if you didn’t know I recently have been dealing with a lot of issues with my right hand and arm. Being right handed this has drastically impacted my ability to hobby. Couple this with the uncertainty of what is going on with the status of Warhammer Fantasy and it’s been hard to work up the go to do hobby on Fantasy models.

I will note, that both Brian and I have been playing a few games. Honestly, Brian more than myself lately but in the grand scheme, things just haven’t worked out where the two of us can get together.

End Times Campaign for Pick Up Games

So, we talked quite a bit about the campaign we are starting on Episode 61. Here is the link to the work in progress document. At the time this was initially posted, I have the first 4 weeks designed and the final scenario.

It’s the End Times Bro Campaign

It’s been a great way to stir up some excitement at the local store for playing Warhammer in a game that people have been playing for a long time, particularly when close to the end of an edition with as many rumors flying around as there are currently. This campaign is written not to really interfere with player’s regular games, but to turn them into large groups and having their games work towards an end goal. The board that Eric (StoneMonkGamer) put together is amazing for this campaign for the campaign map.

We start the campaign tomorrow, April 6th. Stay tuned for updates on the podcast and show.

NoisyAssassin Signing On

Heya everybody! Dustin, aka NoisyAssassin, here. You’ve probably heard me on the show once or twice, where Consey sometimes references some crazy project or other of mine. Well, I’ve finally decided to take the plunge and figure out the blogging system here so that I can share my twisted creations with you fine folks. We’ll just try to ignore the fact that I got access to the site about 8 months ago but haven’t started posting until now…

Anywho, you’ll find that I’m a pretty eclectic hobbyist, and that I can seldom tie myself down to one project for long. So don’t go getting your hopes up too high for any specific project to be finished in a timely manner. You might be waiting for a veeeeeeeery long time (as my Ogre kingdoms army blog that hasn’t been updated in almost 2 years proves). However, I like to believe that quality makes up for inconsistency, so although you might not know what you’re getting, it should at least be neat!

As far as the show goes, we’ve discovered that Consey has the remarkable talent to almost always schedule recording sessions while I’m otherwise engaged, but I will be popping in as a guest from time to time. Gotta have some sort of platform for all my crazy talk after all.

Cheers!

Episode 36: Not Bleeding Yet The Video

Yep, as promised on the cast, here is the video all put together so that you can follow along with all of our progress and really see what and how we achieved each step.

While your there, let us know what you think and share your ideas. We would love to hear them. If we get 10 reviews for this video by the end of July we will give away something from Conesy’s bin of unopened models to one lucky winner determined randomly.
