This week we are riding the rails and enjoying the US trains. The basic Ticket to Ride game is paired with some breakfast options taken from an old train menu.
The Game…Ticket to Ride
This is one of our games we recently discussed as a great game to introduce non-gamers or family to something other than Monopoly (https://wiscodice.com/5-best-games-to-take-you-beyond-monopoly/). You are collecting sets of similar colored trains to claim routes and score points. Being able to complete your tickets, especially high point value tickets, is a must for being successful.
A great game for beginners, causal gamers, and those more experienced. You don’t need to be an expert to be competitive at this game. I was soundly blocked from scoring my highest route and ended up way behind my husband and daughter in points. The two of them had a 2 point difference for longest route.
The Food…Train Breakfast
Riding the rails and spending $2.00 for a complete breakfast! That’s what it cost in 1963. Everyone in the family ordered up shirred eggs with little sausage links today. Never having experienced shirred eggs before, I had to look up a recipe.
The eggs were a great way to use up the little bit of leftover heavy cream sitting in the fridge. They may not be an every day breakfast, but a nice way to mix it up the mornings we have a few extra minutes.
And Beyond…
