You Don’t Want to Let Time Slip Away in Pendulum

Pendulum

This wasn’t a game that had grabbed my attention originally. I am not sure quite what it was, but this game, like so many, was lost in the ocean of game releases.

Never fear though, my wife had flagged it and when it went on sale decided to order it. It arrived as a pleasant surprise game for us to get to the table and play.

  • Players: 1-5
  • Playtime (with Setup): We find it between 90-120 minutes
  • Publisher: Stonemaier Games
  • Designer: Robert Leask

More Monuments! More Civilizations! Tapestry: Plots and Ploys Explored

Tapestry: Plots and Ploys

Tapestry, for us, has been one of the most played games of 2020. It was a game that was heralded with a lot of hype at release, but seems to have not lived up to that hype in everyone’s minds. Yet, it’s eye catching table appearance, easy rules, and fairly scalable play at all player counts has made it easy for it to make it to the table.

Since the first expansion, Tapestry: Plots and Ploys was announced, we have been hyped up to get our hands on it. With anticipation since we ordered it we are now finally able to get it to the table and out of the box. Let’s take a look at the components and what this really adds to Tapestry.

  • Players: 1-5
  • Playtime (with Setup): We find it between 90 and 180 minutes
  • Publisher: Stonemaier Games
  • Designer: Jamey Stegmaier

Excited to Unbox and Review the Diamond in the Sand: Tekhenu: Obelisk of the Sun

Tekhenu: Obelisk of the Sun

When I originally saw Tekhenu: Obelisk of the Sun I felt this game was a gimmick and didn’t think there was a game here. It went on sale, and as a surprise, my wife bought it and gave it to me after a bad day of work. That’s definitely a way to brighten one’s day!

Little did I realize how delighted I would be. Tekhenu is a brilliant game with so many decisions with not nearly enough rounds to do them in.

If you like ancient Egypt or like using dice to power the action you are taking each round than this game is likely for you. It’s time for the Tekhenu Unboxing and Review!

  • Players: 1-4
  • Playtime (with Setup): We find it between 90 and 120 minutes
  • Publisher: Board&Dice (NSKN Games)
  • Designer: Daniele Tascini, Dávid Turczi

Going Crazy Unboxing Paladins of the West Kingdom

Paladins of the West Kingdom
Game Box

Every year my friends organize a gaming weekend we call Cabincon. We all chip in to rent a rural Wisconsin house and bring enough alcohol, food, and board games to last us usually about a month. The event is a blast! One of the best parts is all of the exposure to everyone else’s favorite games!

At our 2019 event I was introduced to Architects of the West Kingdom which is a brilliant worker placement game. I had to immediately pick it up at my local game store and get it to the table at home. Not much time after did I realize that Renegade Game Studios was producing a trilogy of these “West Kingdom” games and that it was all ready released. Recently I was able to head to the store and pick up my copy.

Knight Models DC Universe Aquaman Makes a Splash!!!

Jason Momoa Aquaman

Unboxing videos and blogs are a pretty common thing with gaming channels and media. WiscoDice has never done one…..until now!!!! For our first unboxing I picked the web exclusive Knight Models Aquaman (Jason Momoa). I have been slowly building and painting a Justice League team for their DC Universe Miniature Game. I love being able to collect some of my favorite super heroes. The thought of being able to even play a game with them gets me even more excited! I hope you are as excited as I am to get into the contents of this model.

The Packaging

The model itself comes in a single blister pack. The art and paintjob of the model look really cool and it honestly has great shelf presence if a retailer were able to actually acquire this and sell it. That said, this model isn’t available as a stand alone model except as a direct order from Knight Models. This isn’t a bad thing though. What Knight Models has done is reduced some product SKUs by combining the previous movie Justice League models into one, five model kit. It’s nice as I had purchased the other models previously to have an option to pick this one up separately so that I can complete the set of movie characters.
