Agricola: Special Edition

Our first game this week is Agricola: Special Edition on Gamefound from Awaken Realms. 

Agricola is a classic eurogame from famed designer Uwe Rosenberg and was originally released in 2007. It has been through a number of iterations and revisions and also had a slew of expansions released for it. This new special edition from Awaken Realms seeks to bring in fresh artwork and visuals and to gather every existing expansion deck ever released into this one edition.

For those not familiar, Agricola is a 1 to 4 player worker placement farming game. You start the game with two family members (workers), a small house and an empty grid of farmland. Throughout the game you will aim to develop your humble farm into a thriving one by sowing fields with grain and vegetables, fencing pastures to keep sheep, boars and cows, expanding your house, building improvements, and keeping your growing family fed. 

The special edition will include the Farmers of the Moor expansion as well as the new Irrigation expansion which focuses on ways to bring water onto your farm to boost your crops and animals. This new expansion will only be available in the special edition. And with all 21 existing expansion decks there will be upwards of 1600 cards included in the game for a truly staggering amount of content. 

There is a big range of pledge options available for this campaign so let’s jump into them.

  • Agricola Standard Edition – $90 – Agricola with cardboard tokens. Includes Farmers of the Moor and stretch goals
  • Agricola Special Edition – $125 – Agricola with wooden tokens, Farmers of the Moor and stretch goals. 
  • Family Farm Pledge – $187 – Agricola Special Edition with 3d family, animals stables and fences miniatures, Farmers of the Moor and stretch goals. 

There are some higher level tiers for deep pocketed backers that I’ll let you discover on your own. Whichever level you are looking to back at make sure to pledge for Agricola: Special Edition on Gamefound before June 25, 2025, when the campaign ends.

Wild Gardens

Our second game this week is Wild Gardens from Rose Gauntlet Entertainment on Kickstarter.

Wild Gardens is a delightfully illustrated game for 1 to 4 players all about foraging wild ingredients and cooking delicious recipes. Wild Gardens was originally released in 2024 and with this second printing you can get your hands on the original game as well as the new Foraging Club expansion.

In Wild Gardens you’ll be playing a Forager moving along a path to find wild ingredients like mushrooms, berries, nuts and vegetables. You will use your characters skills to cook delicious meals from recipe cards using your ingredients and serve them to hungry guests. Cooking and serving dishes is a key way to score victory points in the game. Beyond forging and cooking you will also find yourself learning new recipes or studying in the library to gain new skills and customize your character. After 3 cozy days of delicious food, foraging, and rest, victory points are totaled and the player with the most victory points is the winner. 

In addition to the base game, the campaign brings a new expansion for Wild Gardens: the Foraging Club expansion. This expansion features 4 new characters, 8 double sided character boards with unique abilities, a new “Magic Tour Bus” location board and new mechanics.

  • Wild Gardens – $70 – one copy of the Wild Gardens base game
  • Wild Gardens + Foraging Club Expansion – $99 – Wild Gardens base game and the Foraging Club expansion
  • Gamer’s Bundle – $179 – Wild Gardens, Foraging Club expansion and premium wooden token packs and 3 additional expansions.
