Welcome to Kickstart Monday! This is our weekly series featuring 2 or more crowdfunding projects that have caught our eye. We scour over platforms like Kickstarter and Gamefound to find projects that interest us. This week’s picks are:

Our first game this week is Casinopolis from Button Shy games on Kickstarter.

Casinopolis is a Solo and Cooperative card game based on Button Shy’s best selling game Sprawlopolis. In Casinopolis, you will be building a sprawling city map by playing cards in a grid to build large groups of casinos and lining up jackpot icons, building a strip through the city to where the most important casinos will be located, as well as attempting to accomplish 3 unique goals on cards that are selected randomly at the start of the game.

The game is a wallet sized game in the style of all of Button Shy’s games and can be played solo or cooperatively. For this campaign you will also be able to get a free expansion with new goals and megastructures. 

Her are some of the key pledge options for you to get your hands on Casinopolis:

  • Casinopolis – $12 – A single copy of Casinopolis
  • Casinopolis and Sprawlopolis – $20 – a copy a Casinopolis and the original Sprawlopolis
  • All-opolis base games – $39 – includes Casinopolis, Sprawlopolis, Agropolis, and Naturopolis

The campaign for Casinopolis will end on February 15, 2025, so get your pledges in before then. 

An Age Contrived: Folklore and Pilgrimage

Our next game is An Age Contrived: Folklore and Pilgrimage from Bellows Intent on Kickstarter. 

Folklore and Pilgrimage is an expansion for 2024’s An Age Contrived. The expansion brings new characters, twists and improvements to this fantasy engine building euro-game. Players will be able to customize their experience by choosing from new characters and two separate modules to add to the game.

In the Folklore module, as you travel through the land you will perform divine interventions to inspire the mythology of mortals and use a set of cards unique to your god. In the Pilgrimage module you’ll send a mortal to embark on a pilgrimage to Mount Eldranir visiting shrines and earning benefits for your god. Both modules were inspired by feedback from players of the original game and focus on different aspects like player interaction, character movement and new combos and strategies.

Here are the key pledge tiers for this campaign:

  • Folklore & Pilgrimage Core – $49 – The Folklore and Pilgrimage expansion and base game update pack
  • Folklore & Pilgrimage Collectors – $79 – The collectors edition of Folklore and Pilgrimage including mechanical player boards and Game Trayz storage
  • An Age Contrived F&P Core – $109 – An Age contrived base game with the Folklore and Pilgrimage core expansion. 

You’ll have until February 26, 2025, to make your pledge for An Age Contrived: Folklore and Pilgrimage so just be sure to act before then.
