Welcome to Kickstart Monday! This is our weekly series featuring 2 or more crowdfunding projects that have caught our eye. We scour over platforms like Kickstarter and Gamefound to find projects that interest us. This week’s picks are:

Champions of Midgard 10th Anniversary Edition

Our first project this week is Champions of Midgard 10th Anniversary Edition from Grey Fox Games on Kickstarter. 

Champions of Midgard is a classic Viking themed worker placement game for 2-4 players originally released in 2015 and currently ranked #155 on Board Game Geek. Grey Fox Games is celebrating the 10th Anniversary of its release with a new special collectors edition that will only be printed once and will only be available through this campaign.

In Champions of Midgard you take control of a Viking tribe sending workers out to gather supplies, hunt for food, recruit different warrior dice to your tribe, build longboats to pillage and plunder, and fight the various monsters that threaten your village. Over 8 rounds you’ll need to get resources and supplies to defend the village with your crew of Viking warriors. Draugrs and Trolls are a constant threat and anyone not pitching in to defend the village can earn Blame tokens that reduce their score.

Victory will earn you Glory points or even the favor of the gods. You can find glory in other ways by sailing your longboats to distant shores and braving the dangers of the sea. You’ll need to bring enough supplies on the journey for your warriors to take on storms, sea serpents and other obstacles if you wish to reach your destination and claim your rewards.

Only one player will earn enough glory to gain the title of Jarl and become the true Champion of Midgard! Let’s take a look at the pledge levels available for all you up and coming Jarls:

  • Deluxe Upgrade Kit – $89 – for existing owners of Champions of Midgard to get new deluxe components including screen printed wooden meeples, coins, wood and food tokens, the exclusive deluxe box with game trayz storage system.
  • Champions of Midgard Deluxe Edition – $149 – the updated deluxe version of the game with wooden components, deluxe box and gram trays storage.
  • Champions of Midgard Anniversary Edition – $249 – The all new super deluxe version featuring 3d components and tokens, new art, metal coins, a neoprene game mat and deluxe storage box with game trayz. Also include both the Valhalla and Dark Mountains expansions.

Tiny Epic Dungeons Adventures

Next up this week we are looking at Tiny Epic Dungeons Adventures from Gamelyn Games on Kickstarter.

Tiny Epic Dungeons Adventures is a new standalone campaign using the Tiny Epic Dungeons system. You don’t need to have Tiny Epic Dungeons to play but it is fully cross compatible with the other version.

Tiny Epic Dungeons Adventures is a fantasy dungeon crawling campaign game for 1 to 4 players. Each player plays one of eight unique heroes who join together to experience an evolving story and of course delve into dangerous dungeons! Scenarios are presented via the Adventure Booklet that will guide you through the full campaign.

Each mission will have its own unique locations, goals and challenges for your group to face. The game uses a spiral bound dungeon booklet to introduce new locations but players can also travel off the map into a more classic tile based dungeon with further exploration. As you explore you will gain powerful loot, items and spells that you will assuredly need to face off against the variety of minions, brutes and boss monsters along the way.

If you are familiar with Tiny Epic Dungeons, Adventures also introduces new mechanics and secrets to keep things fresh and exciting. In addition to the core game you can also grab a copy of The Phantom Voyage expansion, with new characters and a new campaign that picks up after the story of the main game.

But without further ado let’s see how you can get your hands on all this good Tiny Epic loot! Here are the main pledge tiers available for the campaign:

  • Base Game x1 – $35 – one copy of the retail edition of the base game
  • Deluxe Game x1 – $40 – the deluxe version of the base game with exclusive Kickstarter content
  • Deluxe Bundle x1 – $49 – include the deluxe base game and the Phantom Voyages expansion.  
  • Deluxe Dungeon System Bundle x1 – $89 – includes the deluxe version of Tiny Epic Dungeons (original game), Tiny Epic Dungeons Adventures (deluxe), Tiny Epic Dungeons Stories expansion and the Phantom Voyage expansion.
