Yeah, that’s what it looks like. The iconic Games-Workshop Chaos Space Marine from the Black Legion. I am not sure why, maybe it’s my desire to experiment with other games, maybe it’s my desire to just give GW my paycheck, but I decided to work on my old 40k army. This time though, instead of matching any existing color scheme I had with them I decided I would try my hand at making a unit (maybe more) of Black Legion marines.

This model is a bit of a test model. I worked very hard on how I did the black, and if I get around to it, I will put up a tutorial if your interested. I have said for a long time, don’t paint black. So this was a challenge because the model’s primary color is black. I wanted the armor to be dark, near black but with a bit of gloss and shine to it as well as just enough gray it was convincing, but not so much that it just looked gray and not black. I think that worked well.

The gold, I am not sure on. I think by the time I was doing golds and silvers last night, I was in rush mode and didn’t give them the same treatment. However, as a proof of concept trooper, I think he looks good but on the next model I am going to focus now on making that part of the model better.

Basing is going to be another project. I ordered bases from Secret Weapon Miniatures and I have some ideas for what I want to do with them. I think they are going to look very cool when finished, but like I said, it’s another project in my mind and will go up later when it’s complete.
