End Times Campaign Mega Battle

Table after turn 1

We have talked about our end times campaign we had been playing in quite a few of our previous episodes.  After returning from Germany here is the over due battle report for the mega battle to end the campaign.  This is largely my perspective of the battle I fought but I got some of the major things from through out the table as well.  The theme of this game is a small section of the final battle for the old world where a portion of order allies assault a chaos legion lead by Archaon and try to free captured Teclis.

This post also includes a small gallery of Eric/Stonemonk’s Nagash that was used in this battle.  The model looks great already but Eric still plans more on him.  You should be seeing more of him as well as the rest of Eric’s undead coming soon.

BABR: Defense of Stalingrad

So, this last Thursday night at Misty Mountain games Phil, one of the local Bolt Action players, and myself got together to do a street fight game set in Stalingrad for Warlord Games Bolt Action game. Phil brought 1000 points of Germans and, well, I thought I brought 1000 points of Soviet Union troops….more on that later.

Phil’s force (from memory)
Stalingrad force selector or something close to it from the Armies of Germany book

  • 2nd Lt with SMG and a soldier with rifle
  • Forward Artillery Observer
  • 10 German Heer with lmg (I think)
  • 10 German Pioneers, LMG, some smgs I think
  • 10 German Pioneers, Flame Thrower and 5ish SMG’s
  • Light Howitzer
  • Medium Mortar
  • 2 MG42 teams (MMG teams)
  • 1 Sniper
  • Plus or minus some other stuff

My Soviet Army I am playing currently features everything I own that is painted and built. We did agree that for story purposes I should use the Stalingrad force selector, but only benefited from the free unit option to be fanatic.

  • 1st Lt with soldier inexperienced, both with SMG’s
  • Commissar with soldier, both with SMG’s
  • Forward Air Observer with soldier, both with SMG’s
  • 8 man gaurd unit, 2 SMG’s (forgot they were in the list, never fielded them)
  • 8 man SMG unit, regular
  • 12 man rifleman squad (free unit)
  • 8 man Veteran Gaurd unit with tough fighter
  • T-34 Tank
  • 122mm Medium Howitzer
  • Medium Mortar
  • 3 man Tank Hunter team, 2 models with SMGs, 1 model with captured Panzerfaust
  • Veteran Sniper team
  • Veteran Flamethrower team with ROKS2
  • Anti Tank Rifle

Battle Report: Lizardmen vs Tomb Kings

Second game of  Age Of Sigmar tonight against Kenny from the Combat Phase Podcast. In this game we played 50 wounds with 20 minimum models. I feel like the lists started out balanced and was much more comfortable with the rules. I am sure that a player could still find a way to bring a very broken list with those rules, but this made for a smaller game that we could play and still be able to focus on learning the mechanics and deal with disruptions. When I say disruptions, I really mean the 3 players that came in asking about the game and what’s new with these rules and how they could get started.

5500 Point Lizardmen vs OnG

Video battle report has been uploaded for the big 8th ed Warhammer Fantasy game that Kenny playing the Lizardmen and myself playing Orcs and Goblins. That is 5500 points per player, really probably closer to 5600 or so with over 600 models total on the table.

Also check out Kenny’s review of the game and coverage of our recent game of Age of Sigmar on The Combat Phase Podcast. Combat Phase Episode 104

5500 Points Lizardmen vs Orcs and Goblins

Yeah, this is special. Giving the 8th edition the kind of respect going out that it deserves. Kenny and I have a combined of close to 700 models on the table. Ok, 400+ are just in Orcs and Goblins figures!

Kenny is playing the Lizardmen and I am playing the Orcs and Goblins.

The game is over and clean up is finished. Look for the video and more pictures to be added soon from Kenny’s side of the game!
