Kickstart Monday: Miniature Painting System and Gaming Tables

Welcome to Kickstart Monday!!!! This is our weekly series featuring 2 or more crowdfunding projects in the tabletop gaming industry. I scour over platforms like KickstarterGamefound, and Indigogo to find projects that interest me. People would ask me what I think is worth backing since I was providing these recommendations already. So why not share my thoughts with a weekly blog about projects that interest me?

Stay informed when new Kickstart Monday projects come out by following us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter and following the #KickstartMonday hashtag.

This week on Kickstart Monday it’s time to dive into accessories for the tabletop gaming room. I will take a look at a modular miniature painting system that looks really cool. In addition, a lower-cost modular gaming table that can be assembled to accommodate almost any gaming needs (assuming you purchase the correct components).

The DMG Mini Painting System

The DMG Mini Painting System

The DMG Mini Painting System from Dog Might Games (DMG) features hardwood modular components that come together as a luxury miniature hobbyist painting station. These well-made modular components are magnetic to allow you to customize and grow your miniature hobby area. Ideal for a permanent setup, because of the magnetic components and smaller nature of the modular set up you can pretty easily store and set up this hobby station as you need it.

One of the things that I would recommend you look at with this project is the layout you are able to accommodate with your current painting station. An appropriate amount of planning so that you can add the right number of brush holders, shelves, and other accessories to your hobby station will be key.

If you are like many of us and paint miniatures and terrain then this project will have something that may interest you!

Project Ironside – A Extendable Board Game Table

Project Ironside from Cloud Puncher Games is introducing their take on the budget board game table. The table is made to be modular and can be assembled using additional tables for different sizes and layouts. Another interesting component of this table is that the frame itself is made of pure steel. The table is listed as available in three colors, black, white, and brown.

There are a few options to bling your table. From armrests, the neoprene playing surface, wood toppers, cup holders, and more. All of the standard components you would expect are available for this table. That said, a single table with roughly a 3×5 foot play space is what you will get at the $399 promised budget entry point. When you start throwing in add-ons to this project can really wrack up the price point.

If you are in the market for a game table but want to make sure that this comes in at a budget price this project may have the solution you are looking for!

What You Need to Select that Perfect Board Game Table

Our Jasper Gaming Table from BoardGameTables.com

Picking that perfect board game table is really hard to do. About a year ago my wife and I found ourselves doing just that. We had committed to buying our first dedicated table for gaming. We debated a number of decision points and went back and forth for quite some time until we finally decided upon our final choice.

I hope to help provide some thoughts on what you want to consider to pick up that perfect game table.

Get the Best out of your Tabletop Gaming Room

The Delve – The Cone’s Game Room

For as long as I can remember, I always had a need for a dedicated tabletop gaming space. In the early days, a good table to seat several people for a Dungeons and Dragons game was sufficient. As I moved into miniature and board games the space, storage, and table requirements changed.

Over that time, I have worked to the most out of my tabletop gaming room.

Kickstart Monday: Getting the Best Out of Your Game and Hobby Table

As I prepped for this week’s Kickstart Monday I poured over many miniature gaming Kickstarters as we have been focused on board games lately. What I found is that there is a growing trend in projects that just sell the STL files for 3D printing. If you are like me this is exciting, but not very useful as I don’t have a 3D printer currently. I did managed to stumble into a great Kickstarter project from Daniel and Emma Wolfe for an OTP Wet Palette Paint Station. If you don’t have a wet palette, then this is the perfect time to go and pre-order one for yourself.

As I continued to look, I found a table topper for your gaming that really does something unique. This project, by Michael Cuff, is The Quintessential Tabletop. This topper will sit on your kitchen table or other surface and features both rails that led it slide to the left of the right of the table, but also 360 degree rotation! When it’s a person’s turn, simply move the game board to where they can see it more clearly and then pass it to the next person when you are done.
