End Times Campaign Mega Battle

Table after turn 1

We have talked about our end times campaign we had been playing in quite a few of our previous episodes.  After returning from Germany here is the over due battle report for the mega battle to end the campaign.  This is largely my perspective of the battle I fought but I got some of the major things from through out the table as well.  The theme of this game is a small section of the final battle for the old world where a portion of order allies assault a chaos legion lead by Archaon and try to free captured Teclis.

This post also includes a small gallery of Eric/Stonemonk’s Nagash that was used in this battle.  The model looks great already but Eric still plans more on him.  You should be seeing more of him as well as the rest of Eric’s undead coming soon.

The End Times Campaign: Week 3

2015-04-20 21.34.59

The third week has been played out and good times were had by all of us that made it out. We had 6 of us out when we were making pairings so went with that. We had 2 more show up later, but it was too late for pairings as we were all playing and those two got to hang out and hobby. I will note that pairings were much more exciting with 5 players per team then three, but even then, there was strategy afoot in the pairings. While chaos has been on a tear with last week’s victories, order still controlled far more of the old world. With eyes set on the Battle for Karak Eight Peaks and the fall of Riekland, we paired up and played Warhammer.

  1. High Elves (Fred) vs Warriors of Chaos (Conesy)
  2. Dwarfs (Gordon) vs Skaven (Trevor)
  3. Empire (Nick) vs Ogres (Ben)

The End Times Campaign: Week 2

2015-04-13 21.56.52

Another week is in the books, and what a week it was! Huge shifts in the campaign this week as the games were played and things were fast and furious. This week we had 11 players out which helped get everyone excited. After some decision making of who would play who, it was on to the match ups. The forces of Chaos still very down on the number of locations controlled was able to pick first, and led the choices of match ups. Overall, this system seems to work pretty well and lends a real team aspect to things. One thing I will note, and it’s not in the rules pack, but if your group tends to pick the same match ups every week, then you should have a rule in place to force the match ups to be different opponents for the first few picks. When you get down to the last two picks or so, you can’t help things as we did have one repeat match up.

  1. Undead Legion (Stark) vs Ogres (Eric)
  2. Dwarfs (Gordon) vs Warriors of Chaos (Conesy)
  3. Empire (Nick) vs Ogres (Big Ben R.)
  4. High Elves (Fred) vs Warriors of Chaos (Brian)
  5. High Elves (Kenny K) vs Skaven (Trevor) vs Ogres (Aaron)

The End Times Campaign: Week 1

  • 2015-04-06 21.07.17

Week one of our End Times campaign is set and done, and wow, what a great night! So, let’s set this up a little. It’s Wisconsin. The state’s big school, University of Wisconsin – Madison’s college basketball team is playing for national championships. Most of the state is at a bar or in front of their TV and here we were, 10 dedicated Warhammer players gather at our favorite local game store in town, . People were excited too, a lot of folks there before the normal start time and everyone there plenty early, by quarter after 6.

So, teams were made of 5 players each and after some waiting for order to select their supreme commander we went into the choosing opponents. Wanting to lock in a sure win (well maybe not so sure, but…) I choose to have our skaven player (Trevor) match up against Dwarfs (Gordon). Order picked next, and matched up Lizardmen (Kenny) vs our Ogre recruits (Eric). The remaining match ups were selected below:

  1. Skaven (Trevor) vs. Dwarfs (Gordon)
  2. Lizardmen (Kenny) vs. Ogres (Eric)
  3. Orcs and Goblins (Paul) vs. Empire (Nick)
  4. Undead Legion (Stark) vs. Warriors of Chaos (myself)
  5. Warriors of Chaos (Brian) vs. High Elves (Fred)

End Times Campaign for Pick Up Games

So, we talked quite a bit about the campaign we are starting on Episode 61. Here is the link to the work in progress document. At the time this was initially posted, I have the first 4 weeks designed and the final scenario.

It’s the End Times Bro Campaign

It’s been a great way to stir up some excitement at the local store for playing Warhammer in a game that people have been playing for a long time, particularly when close to the end of an edition with as many rumors flying around as there are currently. This campaign is written not to really interfere with player’s regular games, but to turn them into large groups and having their games work towards an end goal. The board that Eric (StoneMonkGamer) put together is amazing for this campaign for the campaign map.

We start the campaign tomorrow, April 6th. Stay tuned for updates on the podcast and show.
