Is the Geeknson Henry Gaming Table For You? Board Game Table Review

Geeknson’s Henry Gaming Table Ready to Play Spirit Island

The Geeknson Henry Gaming Table is our second gaming table. It’s a beautifully made table but does so at a costly price point. This type of gaming accessory is most definitely a luxury item. Not everyone needs one, and a gaming table like this is not a minor consideration when deciding to purchase one. We hope this review will help guide you in making the decision if this table is right for you.

When we bought our new house, we decided we wanted to invest in our second gaming table. Our first table is a Jasper Gaming Table from Allplay (formerly BoardGameTables.com) This table is an excellent table for all of the reasons in our previous review. However, for our new space, we wanted to have a signature table that more closely matches the wood finishes and look of the room as a whole.

Kickstart Monday: Miniature Painting System and Gaming Tables

Welcome to Kickstart Monday!!!! This is our weekly series featuring 2 or more crowdfunding projects in the tabletop gaming industry. I scour over platforms like KickstarterGamefound, and Indigogo to find projects that interest me. People would ask me what I think is worth backing since I was providing these recommendations already. So why not share my thoughts with a weekly blog about projects that interest me?

Stay informed when new Kickstart Monday projects come out by following us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter and following the #KickstartMonday hashtag.

This week on Kickstart Monday it’s time to dive into accessories for the tabletop gaming room. I will take a look at a modular miniature painting system that looks really cool. In addition, a lower-cost modular gaming table that can be assembled to accommodate almost any gaming needs (assuming you purchase the correct components).

The DMG Mini Painting System

The DMG Mini Painting System

The DMG Mini Painting System from Dog Might Games (DMG) features hardwood modular components that come together as a luxury miniature hobbyist painting station. These well-made modular components are magnetic to allow you to customize and grow your miniature hobby area. Ideal for a permanent setup, because of the magnetic components and smaller nature of the modular set up you can pretty easily store and set up this hobby station as you need it.

One of the things that I would recommend you look at with this project is the layout you are able to accommodate with your current painting station. An appropriate amount of planning so that you can add the right number of brush holders, shelves, and other accessories to your hobby station will be key.

If you are like many of us and paint miniatures and terrain then this project will have something that may interest you!

Project Ironside – A Extendable Board Game Table

Project Ironside from Cloud Puncher Games is introducing their take on the budget board game table. The table is made to be modular and can be assembled using additional tables for different sizes and layouts. Another interesting component of this table is that the frame itself is made of pure steel. The table is listed as available in three colors, black, white, and brown.

There are a few options to bling your table. From armrests, the neoprene playing surface, wood toppers, cup holders, and more. All of the standard components you would expect are available for this table. That said, a single table with roughly a 3×5 foot play space is what you will get at the $399 promised budget entry point. When you start throwing in add-ons to this project can really wrack up the price point.

If you are in the market for a game table but want to make sure that this comes in at a budget price this project may have the solution you are looking for!

This week on Kickstart Monday I wanted to talk about two, game table projects that if you are in the market for this luxury item you should definitely check out.

The Bristol Plus – Gaming And Dining Table

The Bristol Plus Gaming and Dining Table from UK manufacturer Geeknson are bringing even more options to their entry-level table. Geeknson is arguably one of the biggest players and leaders in the luxury game table market. You can see their designs on many YouTube channels including Rodney’s Watch it Played.

The Bristol, while being the most entry-level table Geeknson offers, should not be considered low options. Made from wild oak, you will have options for various table finishes and an array of included accessories as part of your base pledge. This table comes in a number of unique sizes from the size of a coffee table to a large table that can seat 8 players. Pledging is made simple by just selecting the size of the table you want. Shipping and options will be determined when the pledge manager is made available.

If you are looking for a great quality gaming table with a number of flexible options then you should definitely check out this project.

Sunnygeeks 1.5 – Modular Gaming Table

The Sunnygeeks table from Rathskellers is possibly the most flexible gaming table on the market currently. Available in two sizes you have a plethora of options. Available in two sizes, you can have this table fit and work for nearly any gaming and dining area. Rathskellers is another popular UK-based game table manufacturer whose designs can be seen on the ever-popular Dice Tower YouTube channel.

The flexibility of the table comes from the unique wooden drawer (more like boxes), magnetic interchangeability, and lids for the drawers that give you so many options for functionality that you can build and customize your table based on your needs and gaming experience. In addition, table legs can be tapered wooden legs or metal legs.

With so many options, it’s hard to say what’s not to love with this table. If you are in the market for a luxury gaming table this is a great project to consider.

More to Consider

I usually don’t go into an extended ramble on these things, but with two gaming tables featured I thought I should share a few additional thoughts. Both of these tables have been produced by these companies previously. These tables though have only been made available to the public via their Crowdfunding campaigns though. Both companies I would consider leaders in the luxury game table market.

I would also add that I am intrigued by both of these tables, but at this time have not had the opportunity to play at any of the tables made by these companies so can’t judge the quality of their construction practices myself. Luxury gaming tables are exactly that, a luxury item. It’s not a requirement or something that I would tell you that you have to have. It’s something that we enjoy having ourselves (Jasper gaming table currently), but it’s a purchase that you have to consider if it’s right for you, your game space, and your budget.

Getting the Best Out Of Your Jasper Gaming Table

The Jasper Gaming Table from BoardGameTables.com

It was a little over a year ago when my wife and I decided we were going to purchase our first tabletop gaming table. With a market full of options, there were a number of things to consider. Ultimately, we purchased the Jasper Gaming Table from BoardGameTables.com. With over a year of use I feel it’s a good time to give it a review
