Welcome to Kickstart Monday! This is our weekly series featuring 2 or more crowdfunding projects that have caught our eye. We scour over platforms like Kickstarter, Gamefound, and Indigogo to find projects that interest us.

There are certainly some exciting projects out in crowdfunding land. Let’s take a look at a couple of games that we think you should check out.

Rebirth

Our first game this week is Rebirth on Kickstarter from Mighty Board games and designer Reiner Knizia.

Rebirth is a 2 to 4 player tile laying game where after disasters have destroyed much of civilization, people in the distant future are looking to rebuild society. This is not your typical post-apocalypse with radiation filled wasteland though. The game is set on a lush map of Scotland where you will guide your clan in the restoration of the land. You will build energy and food farms to support the population and build settlements to gain points and control castles. You will also visit cathedrals and score points for community end game goals. The game also features an alternate map of Ireland which has new terrains and new mechanics to explore and is a more advanced and competitive game.

Rebirth is available as a limited edition pledge for $49 and includes custom 3d components made from sustainable Re-Wood material. The Kickstarter campaign for Reiner Knizia’s Rebirth ends soon on June 12, 2024, so make sure to get your pledge in before then.

The 7 Seas

Our second game this week is The 7 Seas from Critical Hut on Gamefound.

The 7 Seas is a 1 to 5 player worker placement dice rolling game where players explore, trade and battle across the high seas. During the 7 rounds of the game you will take actions with your 2 workers, your Captain and an officer. For your main actions you’ll be able to set sail on one of the unique seven sea tiles and have encounters with pirates, merchants and creatures.

You’ll have an opportunity to land on islands to explore and interact with the locals. You may need to dock at a port to make strategic resource trades or sometimes just go fishing when you just need food for your crew. Finally you can upgrade and repair your ship to prepare for further adventures. As optional actions you can also choose to attack your opponents to plunder their loot or trade with other players to swap resources. As you take your actions you are looking to gather more Glory points than the other players to be crowned the Legend of the 7 Seas at the end of the game.

The 7 Seas Core Box pledge will net you the base game for $44. You can upgrade to the Captains pledge for $66 which will include component material upgrades and any extensions unlocked through stretch goals. The 7 Seas campaign on Gamefound will end on June 9, 2024, so make sure to get your pledge in before time runs out.
