Kickstart Monday: Masters of the Universe Battleground and Periodic Table Dice

Welcome to Kickstart Monday! This is our weekly series featuring 2 or more crowdfunding projects that have caught our eye. We scour over platforms like Kickstarter, Gamefound, and Indigogo to find interesting projects.

This week, we couldn’t help but be excited for more Masters of the Universe and these cool periodic table dice. With that, read on and let’s see what these projects have to offer!

Masters of the Universe: Battlegrounds

Masters of the Universe: Battleground Core Set from Archon Studios

By the power of Greyskull!!! Archon Studios has brought their hit tabletop miniature board game Masters of the Universe: Battlegrounds back to Gamefound. Not only that but this time, they can distribute it to more countries including the US. Masters of the Universe is one of my favorite intellectual properties and brings back amazing childhood memories. When this project launched originally and I couldn’t receive a copy in the US I was very disappointed. Fortunately, I found a way to get a copy, but now I can get all the expansion stuff I missed.

In Masters of the Universe: Battlegrounds you play a 2 player skirmish tabletop miniatures game on a hexagonal game board. Each player controls some of their favorite characters from the MotU setting to see who can win. The miniatures, as you can see in the picture, come unassembled and unpainted. However, these models have details and poses that are iconic and classic to the characters from the cartoons, comics, and toys that inspired them. Not only that, but I can say that the detail is of a very high quality on these models.

If you are like me and want to collect all things Masters of the Universe, then you should head over to Gamefound and check out this project!

Ultimate Periodic Table Dice

When we heard about these dice, we were immediately intrigued. Of course, with dice in the name of our show, how could we not? In the Ultimate Periodic Table Dice Kickstarter from Rampage Games you can get six-sided dice that feature 118 elements from the periodic table. Do we have your attention yet?

We were sent a copy of these dice to play with and we couldn’t help ourselves but roll them to see what crazy molecules we might roll up. There are certainly several clever learning games one might create to use these dice in the classroom or with their children to help make learning about the elements just that much more fun. On top of that, as an add-on to the project, you can get cards with all 118 elements that will have details about each one so that you can learn more about each of these.

If you have young children or just want to learn more about science then you should definitely head over to Kickstarter to check this project out today!

Kickstart Monday: Discover New Worlds With Giant Mechs

Welcome to Kickstart Monday!!!! This is our weekly series featuring 2 or more crowdfunding projects in the tabletop gaming industry. I scour over platforms like KickstarterGamefound, and Indigogo to find projects that interest me. People would ask me what I think is worth backing. Since I was providing these recommendations all ready, what better way to do it than post a weekly blog about projects I am interested in.

This week on Kickstart Monday I couldn’t help myself but talk about the new Robotech Miniature Game and then a really cool planetary exploration game. I hope you are as excited as I am. Let’s take a look at these projects!

Robotech Macross DOG FIGHT- The Miniatures Game

Robotech Macross DOG FIGHT- The Miniatures Game from Minitech Games looks to be a much different game than its predecessor from Paladium Games. In this game you will play out much more skirmish level encounters that more well play out individual dog fights between forces. Pit mighty Veritech Fighters of the UEDF against the alien forces such as the Zentraedi.

There are different scales and sizes of games that you can play so you will be able to include more mechs. Each round of the game is broken into four phases. In the first phase, you will plan, in secret, where each of your miniatures will move under your command. Then you will execute those movements based on your plan. Interestingly enough, movement is resolved simultaneously with rules for handling conflicts where models would move into the same space/location. The Cross-Event phase then occurs. In this phase, any mechs who happened to cross paths during the Movement phase will do a quick round of close combat. The round is then wrapped up in the Combat Phase where mechs will be able to resolve all of their ranged attacks at other targets within their firing arcs.

The game ends when all mechs have been eliminated from one side. It is possible that in the same round all mechs are eliminated from both sides. In this case, the player effectively with the smaller or weaker rated force wins.

If you love Robotech and are looking for another miniature game with lighter rules and cool miniatures then you should consider supporting this project.

Stellar Expedition

Stellar Expedition from Wulfhorn Games will take you to where no life form has gone before. In the game, you will take on the role of captain of a team from one of the four factions in the game and traverse a gate in space that will take you to new worlds and discoveries. While exploring these new locations you will be attempting to accomplish expeditions. Completing these will help advance you towards victory.

Stellar Expedition is not just another 4x game. Where most games in this genre are focused ultimately on territory control, space combats, and who can dominate the galaxy this game changes it up and orientates around exploration and completing expeditions. Expeditions ultimately score you points and at the end of the game, it will be expedition points and not crushing all of those to your point of view. After all, it’s a big galaxy and there’s far more to discover than just the small portion discovered during gameplay.

If you were hoping for a board game that would help you feel convey’s that Star Trek exploration feel in a unique game and universe then you should consider supporting this project!

These 28mm Eastern Dark Elf miniatures from Mirliton feature all of the models you would want to include in a fantasy dark elf army. These models are sculpted in 3D modeling software, but are being manufactured in white metal to be delivered to backers.

These models all have are themed around more middle eastern look and feel. This makes them really unique against other companies that are producing dark elf models. Whether you are building an old Warhammer Fantasy army, Ninth Age, Kings of War, or really any other system that uses 28mm figures these are sure to give you a really unique look at feel to your army on the tabletop.

Cultists and Zombies

Cultists and Zombies from RBJ Game Company features an assortment of 28mm figures cast in white metal. Not only is there a big and terrifying mythos monster, but an assortment of really unique zombies and cultists. Models are all sculpted to 28mm scale and so should roughly blend in with other miniatures of that scale.

These figures would be great to supplement a GM’s needs for a mythos RPG or a player who is looking to play a mythos skirmish wargame. If you are one of those people you should definitely check this one out.
