Kickstart Monday: Wild Intergalactic Dogfights Protect Hidden Forests

It’s the start of another week. That means it’s time for Kickstart Monday, our weekly blog series featuring 2 or more crowdfunded gaming projects. This week features a pair of board games that are quite different than each other. Both look really cool though and we thing you should take the time to check them out!

Forests of Pangaia

Forests of Pangaia from Pangaia Games is a strategy board game for 2-4 players. During the game you will be leveraging the four elements to plant and grow your trees on the game board. You will come upon barren lands that will require you to complete “rituals” in the game. When you do this you will score life energy (essentially points). Whoever has the most life energy when the final ritual is completed wins!

This game shines as a shorter strategy game, with a play time indicated between 30-60 minutes. Having reviewed the rules there appears to be some real depth in strategy in the game, but the rules are easy to pick up and understand. This really does appear to be a game that will be great as a family game, but also have enough game for even hard core gamers to find enjoyment out of.

If you are looking for a game that features nature, beautiful trees, a dynamic hex based player board, and lighter rules and shorter play time then this is game you should really check out.

Interceptor

Interceptor from the FASA Corporation is a game about space combat with players controlling a small wing of fighters. The core game comes with enough ships, cards, dice, and other accessories to play the game for what looks like two players. With multiple factions available there will be lots to explore in this game.

Players will build their fighter wing of at least 6 fighters and pilots from the wide selection of options available. Then using a predominately D10 dice system for determining results such as shooting at enemy fighters, players will take each other on in a game that should run about 60 minutes of play time for experienced players.

If you are looking for a cool, space themed game that takes represents fast paced space combat and test your mettle against other players and factions then this game very well could be for you.

Kickstart Monday: Majestic Mountains Are Ready for Exploration

Welcome to Kickstart Monday! Kickstart Monday is our weekly series where we feature two or more crowdfunded projects in the tabletop gaming industry. This week, we are looking at two games that feature mountain fairing fantasy races.

Fall of the Mountain King

Fall of the Mountain King from Burnt Island Games features the prequal game to their popular In the Hall of the Mountain King game. In this game you will collect and build a tableau of ancestry cards that will add to your in game actions. This will ultimately lead to an interesting territory control game on the game board.

This is a complete stand alone game. Like many of these sequel/expansion projects there are options to get the original game in the series. If you enjoy playing the bad guys, like games that have euro mechanics, and like games that feature great player interaction then these games are likely to delight you.

Dwar7s Winter & The Lost Tribes

Dwar7s Winter & The Lost Tribes is the latest game and expansion to the popular Dwar7s games from Vesuvius Media Ltd. While these games boast their unique cartoonish art style that makes them family friendly, there is plenty of game in the boxes.

In Dwar7s Winter, you will pick up in the fall and play more of a tower defense game, something unique for the series. You will build squads, man the walls, and defend the outpost from marauding monsters.

For the Dwar7s: The Lost Tribes expansion adds ogres, crystal dwarfs, and half-bloods. With more content for this great game, and more figures, this alone should make this Kickstarter popular. This particular expansion is a Kickstarter exclusive so make sure you back now to get your copy.
