Arydia: The Paths We Dare Tread

Arydia: The Paths We Dare Tread from Far Off Games is designed by the same design team that put together Xia: Legends of the Drift System. In Arydia, you will play a series of linked games with between 1-4 players to explore and discover the fantasy land of Arydia. This game is a classic campaign game where your characters will advance and grow over the course of game play. Arm yourselves, gather your friends, and explore the land.

Included with this project is over 60 pre-painted fantasy figures that you will have the opportunity to encounter over the course of the campaign. The game features different paths for the players that encompass the classic fantasy characters – warriors, healers, rogues, and rangers. With so much content to uncover and explore this will most certainly find a way back to your game table if you should choose to support it!

Discover new lands in this game of fantasy exploration. Unlock new powers as you gain mastery over your path. With events to overcome, monsters to thwart, and stories to be told this game has real potential.

Pirates

Pirates from Queen Games offers a light, fun pirate themed game for 3-5 players. This game is, at it’s core, a revised version of Buccaneer from Stefan Dorra. Play time promises to be quick, making this ideal for an evening game night or filler game for a game day.

On you turn you will take one of four actions, assemble boarders, capture, mutiny, and capture a pirate. From these actions play will proceed until all twenty cards are discovered. At that point, the game ends immediately.

The components and art of the game look very attractive, but most of the components are relegated to punch board card components, cards, and a few wooden tokens. At $35 US to support this project though, there is plenty of game here and certainly hours of fun for your gaming group.

If you like pirates and lighter games that play quickly, then make sure you check out Pirates from Queen Games.

Kickstart Monday: Big Boxes and Sweet Vindication

We have a couple of very cool board games on this week’s Kickstart Monday! Alhambra is getting a second edition with Queen Games giving it the Alhambra Big Box Second Edition. Alhambra is a great game that originally won the “Spiel des Jahres” award in 2003. It’s a game that’s been around a long time, and it’s great to see a new second edition!

Our second Kickstarter project is for the game Vindication with it’s new Chronicles expansion. Vindication, when it was originally released, was highly anticipated by the gaming world at large. With it’s Euro mechanics coupled with great narrative and art it’s a really cool game. Chronicles will add to the fun, while the campaign will allow new players to get a copy of all of the original content.

Alhambra is a palace and fortress of the Moorish monarchs of Granada, Spain. In this tile laying game, you compete to create the best version of the walled city. You do so by buying buildings from the market, having the most buildings of a particular type, and creating the longest wall around your city.

The Big Box Second Edition provides all the fun of the first edition big box with new artwork and all of the current expansions. The Kickstarter includes fun, upgraded components like an acrylic tile holder and 3-D tiger fountains to replace your starting fountain. Combine that with 17 new expansion modules by different designers, make this a very attractive Kickstarter to back.
