Welcome to Kickstart Monday! This is our weekly series featuring 2 or more crowdfunding projects that have caught our eye. We scour over platforms like Kickstarter, Gamefound, and Indigogo to find projects that interest us.

There are certainly some exciting projects out in crowdfunding land. Let’s take a look at a couple of games that we think you should check out.

The 7th Citadel

Our first project this week is The 7th Citadel from Serious Poulp on Kickstarter.

The 7th Citadel is a cooperative exploration game for 1 to 4 players set in the post-apocalyptic fantasy world known as the Collapsing Lands. You start the game as a lowly “slave-gardener” toiling in one of the citadels of the Necrodruids tending to the monstrous plants intended to protect humanity from the horrible giant worms known as “Burrowers” that ravage the land.

Your journeys will take you far across the Collapsing Lands discovering new areas, people and, threats. You explore the land of 7th Citadel by revealing one of the more than 1000 terrain or event cards to build a growing game board. You are able to freely explore the world in the direction of your choice.

You will encounter obstacles, threats, NPCs, companions and side quests.  You will choose how you reaction these encounters and your choices can have a lasting impact on the world and have repercussions later in the game. Your characters will also advance in power as you play, gaining new skills and equipment and building buildings for powerful permanent effects. Will you succumb to the various dangers and obstacles along the way or will you be able to overcome the threat of the mysterious “First Garden”?

If you are already familiar with the core 7th Citadel game the first pledge level of Veteran may be the right choice for you. For $53 it includes the Season 2 Collector’s box, the new “First Garden” threat and the kickstarter exclusive expansion “The Reversal”. For newcomers, take a look at the Novice pledge for $87 which includes the 7th Citadel core box and applicable stretch goals, or opt for the Rookie pledge at $139 which includes the core game, the Season 2 Collectors box, the new threat and the expansion and applicable stretch goals. Check out the 7th Citadel campaign page for other pledge levels and addon options. You’ll need to visit before June 19, 2024, when the campaign ends.

Micro Moonshine

Our second game this week is Micro Moonshine from Thistroy Games on Gamefound.

Set in the 1920s in the United States during prohibition, Micro Moonshine is a small-box game for 1 to 4 players who compete to build an illegal liquor empire. During the game you will draft worker cards to be able to to take actions at city locations or to use their special abilities.

To craft your illicit spirits you’ll need to purchase ingredients from the market like water, grain, fruit and sugar. Use the right combination of ingredients at the Barrel House to produce different spirits or wine, then visit the Bottling Plant to bottle your goods so you can fulfill contracts with local speakeasies to earn victory points at the end of the game.

You may also find yourself visiting the Docks, the Street Market and the Black Market to get additional access to ingredients or offload your illegal goods. As part of the stretch goals for the campaign, additional modules have already been unlocked for the game including the Police Station module and the Farm module which both add some new actions and gameplay mechanics.

Mico Moonshine is available for $27 with the Base Pledge, which includes any unlocked stretch goals. You can also go in for a copy with an upgraded neoprene game mat for $49. Thankfully you won’t need to dodge the law to pledge for your copy of Micro Moonshine, but you will need to do so before June 28, 2024, when the campaign ends.
