Kickstart Monday: Beautiful Dragons Taking Tricks and Lands

Welcome to Kickstart Monday!!! Our weekly blog series features two or more crowdfunded projects in the tabletop gaming industry. This week we picked a pair of dragon themed games that are active on Kickstarter right now. Hopefully you are as intrigued as we are. Let’s check out these games!!!!

Dragonbond: Lords of Vaala

Dragonbond: Lords of Vaala from Draco Studios brings a unique game experience to the tabletop board game. You will play this tabletop wargame as an asymmetric faction, either a general or dragon. You will play the game over a series of rounds in a race to collect the most Vaala. The first player to 10 Vaala will be declared the winner!

At the start of each round, you will build a deck of cards that are your planned actions for the round. The cards will be resolved in order triggering all of the various actions. Manuever, attack, create bonds, cast spells and harvest the lands as you follow your path to victory.

If the idea of asymetric combat with dragons, epic generals, and various other powers in a beautiful fantasy realm with gorgeous art interests you then you should check out Dragonbond: Lords of Vaala!

Wicked and Wise

Wicked and Wise from Weird Giraffe Games is an asymmetric trick taking game of dragons and mice. This game features all of the common mechanics of any trick taking game. However, what makes this different is that during each round each team will start by choosing a goal (or more than 1). You will then play a round of 5 tricks. Trick playing is standard and players must follow suit. However, one player of the team will play as the dragon player and play using the number of the card and the other player is the mouse, activating the text on the card they play.

Playing as your mouse gives your partner a much more dynamic role. Their cards may have abilities that let you collect coins, swap cards that have been played, or other fun tricks. This helps make this trick taking game something different than the other games like it on the market.

If you like trick taking games, but need something different than the normal game of Euchre then this game is certainly one you should check out.

Kickstart Monday: Pretty Flowers Get Stomped by Monster Invasions

Monday, Monday, Monday!!! This week only. Featuring projects from Gamefound and Kickstarter game projects for a limited time only. Let’s take the time to check out these great projects!

Monster Invasion

Monster Invasion is a Gamefound project from Petersen Games. Where these projects are typically for a single game or product this one combines four games by four different designers!

This is also a different type of crowd funding projects. These games are all ready produced and ready to ship, so once the project is funded and funds collected these will ship. No big delays. Of course, that makes this more of a pre-order system. However, you do get a discount and are assured to be able to receive these games before they are available in retail.

All four games are available to try today on Tabletop Simulator so give them a try before you decide to back.

Gift of Tulips

Going from scary monsters we will turn to the lighter side of gaming with Gift of Tulips from Weird Giraffe Games. If you love bouquets of flowers, beautiful artwork, and games with cards then this will be a bright ray of sunshine for you!

At it’s core, Gift of Tulips is effectively a card drafting game. You will start with a hand of two cards, perform two actions on your turn, and before performing an action you will draw a card. Actions must be different that you play. You will either play a card that is added to your dispay of cards (your bouquet), give a card to another player (gifting them a flower), or add it to a stack that will be used for scoring during the other actions.

At it’s heart, there is simple mechanics with art that will make this game attractive as a great family game. We recommend you take a look at this Kickstarter game!
