Welcome to Kickstart Monday! This is our weekly series featuring 2 or more crowdfunding projects that have caught our eye. We scour over platforms like Kickstarter and Gamefound to find projects that interest us.
Read on to check out our two picks for this week:
Tír na nÓg
Our first game this week is Tír na nÓg from Grand Gamers Guild on Kickstarter. Tír na nÓg is a game for 1 to 5 players set in the mysterious and wondrous Celtic Otherworld of the same name.
Your goal in Tir na nog is to build a great Saga; a tale of your adventures in the other realm. As you journey through Tír na nÓg, you will send storytellers (workers) to have encounters with creatures and places all drawn from Celtic folklore.
You’ll encounter leprechauns, Merrow (mermaids), great serpent-like Ollipheist, Kelpies and many other strange beings. As you have these encounters you will use the encounter cards to build your Saga in front of you as a grid of cards. Each row of your Saga is associated with a Geas card that provides a unique scoring condition for the cards in that row. You will score point for fulfilling each Geas card, for each of your encounter cards and for having the most connected encounter cards of a color.
The winner is the player with the most valuable Saga and their epic tale will live on through history.
This campaign for Tír na nÓg is a reprint that also includes additional content; the Blessings and Burdens modular expansion and the Journey to Tir na nog 18 card escape room adventure. Here are the main pledge tiers available for this campaign:
- Deluxe Edition – $39 – The deluxe edition with a custom start player marker, wooden number and color change tokens and the Subplots and Towers expansions.
- Deluxe Edition + Expansion – $49 – Everything in the deluxe edition plus the Blessings and Burdens expansion
- All In – $59 – The deluxe edition, the Blessings and Burdens expansion and the Journey to Tír na nÓg escape room game.
You’ll want to journey over to the campaign page for Tír na nÓg before September 6, 2024, if you are looking to make a pledge.
Final Nine: A Disc Golf Card Game
Next up this week we have Final Nine: A Disc Golf Card Game from Mnkymnd Games on Kickstarter. Final Nine is a card game for 1 to 4 players where players play through an 18 hole disc golf course.
The course itself is represented by 18 Hole cards each rated as a 3, 4 or 5 par. The course also contains various hazards and challenges like water bushes, trees and structures. Gameplay courses through a card combination system where you combine Disc cards like Driver, Fairway, Mid and Putter with Actions cards that include Skills, Luck, Deviations and Calls.
You’ll craft a combination of cards to create the best throw you can. Your throw will advance your disc marker on the grid of the Hole card and as you would expect the goal is to get your disc to the basket in the least number of throws. As this campaign is a reprint not only is the base game included but additional expansions are available as well.
The Expansion Pack includes two new courses, one in a suburban setting and the more challenging forest course. Each new course features unique layouts and obstacles as well as course specific disc and action cards.
Let’s take a look at those pledge levels:
- Core Game – $39 – Just the core game plus a few Kickstarter exclusive character and disc cards
- Expansion pack – $39 – Just the expansion pack with the suburban and forest courses, and meeples and Kickstarter extras
- Core Game + Expansion Pack – $78 – Both the core game and expansion pack
Take aim and get your pledge in so you don’t miss the Final Nine Kickstarter campaign which ends on August 29, 2024.
